RITA MARHAUG

Her Images often problematizes perception. Inner and outer horizons characterize our thoughts and actions. Describing our surroundings, the horizon line denotes the meeting between sky and sea. But we also realize that this is only reality from our own point of view, an illusion from a distance. Rita Marhaug’s approach to performance is through the basic tools of the body, with sparse use of objects and other requisites. The everyday language of bodily behaviour and the concrete body’s dimensions are the source of inspiration for her work and actions.
Technical wise, the series Horizon is based on own photos made into intaglio plates, three- colour separation. The plates are used freely in the manor of collage with mono-print elements. This makes each print a unique image.
