Camassia draws artistic inspiration from the landscape that surrounds her. Based in Scotland, a vibrant spectrum of colours is the backdrop to her painted works. Many of her artworks, in contrast to their vibrancy, hold one specific affirming notion, in clearly depicting one form of dwelling, whether that be a traditional cottage, Scottish highland bothy, or even a ruin. She chooses to include such dwellings, as not, simply a portrayal of quaint images of rural life, but as instead, an echoing reminder of human nature. An often isolated, barren landscape may seem uninhabitable, but the suggestion of life through a building, lived in or otherwise, also represents home and shelter, wherever that may be.
