Jan Pištěk was born in Prague on 10th August 1961. He was studying the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague from 1980 to 1986, where he became a special assistant in Professor Bedřich Dlouhý’s School of Painting in 1990. In 1995 heceased teaching to engage fully in his own projects, exhibition work, creative painting, and work for theatre and film.

His work is represented in the collections of the National Gallery in Prague, the Prague City Gallery, the Aleš South Bohemian Gallery in Hluboká nad Vltavou, the Behemót Gallery in Prague and Kunsthalle Prague, in private collections in the Czech Republic and abroad.
